Vines and Winemaking
We adopt a philosophy of minimal intervention for both viticulture and winemaking.Vines are hand-tended using organic and sustainable viticultural practices, with a focus on soil and vine health to produce premium quality fruit.
Established in 1987 for premium sparkling wine production, the 14 acre (3.5H) vineyard of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir was reworked in 2005 with additional plantings of Pinot Noir (MV6 clone) and Shiraz (PT23 clone).
Winemaking incorporates natural and contemporary techniques – wild yeast ferments, maturation in French oak barrels, extended lees development, and ‘méthode traditionnelle’ sparkling production – to enhance seasonal fruit and site characteristics. We engage specialist contract winemakers as well as producing some batches in situ utilising the family’s Oenology qualifications (CSU) and interests.
Wines
Typically elegant in style, our table wines express lively fruit characters, soft tannins, and discreet French oak and natural yeast influences.
Vintage sparkling wines are produced ‘méthode traditionnelle’ from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir grapes. Current releases include a dry aperitif (‘Emma’ 2010, 2017) as well as a sweeter style (Cuvee Riche 2016).
